What is Rubber Wood?
Rubber Wood is a sustainable, eco-friendly hardwood sourced from the Para Rubber Tree (Hevea brasiliensis). The trees are harvested only after completing their latex-producing lifecycle, giving the wood a valuable second life while reducing waste and supporting the responsible use of natural resources.
However, rubber trees have relatively slender trunks, typically measuring only 20-30 inches in diameter at maturity. As a result, large, solid panels are carefully constructed by joining smaller sections of wood using specialized woodworking techniques to ensure strength, stability, and a consistent finish:
Finger-Jointing: Carefully selected pieces of rubber wood are joined using precision-cut interlocking joints and high-strength adhesives. This method produces larger, stable panels while enhancing durability and sustainability by maximizing material use and minimizing wood waste.
Combined with rubber wood’s natural characteristics, this process creates furniture that is durable, functional, and uniquely beautiful.
